Frequently Asked Questions...
what was the logic behind the NFL boaters intentionally taking off their life jackets when they could've lived?
according to Nick, the survivor, all 3 others intentionally took off the life jackets and disappeared... what is the logic behind them doing that?
if you were stranded like they were, do you think you would have survived like Nick or gone crazy like the 3 other guys?
Answer:
There wasn't any, plain and simple. The thing is that if you're in the freezing water, starting to suffer from hypothermia, you don't think rationally. One of the effects of hypothermia is that you start to become delirious, you panic, and you don't think straight.
Another thing to think about is the fear of torture and suffering. In a situation like that, a man would know that death is likely, as your only chance is that someone notices you're gone and finds you, but generally, by the time you're gone long enough for people to worry, and then the time it takes for them to figure out what you were doing and for the rescue crews to actually find you in the middle of the ocean, chances of survival are slim
I liken it to a spy who is caught by the enemy. Most spys carry suicide pills, so if they're captured they can commit suicide. Most do because they know they're going to die anyway, the chances of the enemy releasing you, even if you cooperate, are slim, and if you're going to die anyway, suicide is better than being tortured endlessly and then ultimately killed. I mean, most people wouldn't want to live only to suffer for the rest of their life. Its the same with the boaters. If they thought they would never be found and knew they would die, why keep your lifejackets on just so you can live a day or 2 longer while suffering the whole time, until you freeze to death. In essence, they took the easy way out.

How Stress Can Effect Your Daily Life In Several Ways
Modern life seems to bring with it more and more stress as people have more and more issues to deal with and less time to do so. Stress is not just a harmless byproduct of modern life, though; it can cause real harm if it's not managed. Stress can bring about a variety of consequences, some of which we'll be discussing in this article. I myself obtained good success eliminating stress making use of a Homedics back massager such as a Shiatsu back massager.
Sometimes stress can appear to be manageable at first, but it can gradually worsen over time. Untreated stress can cause you to feel burned out, depressed or hopeless about the conditions of your life. That's why stress shouldn't be taken lightly, as it can become truly harmful if it gets out of control. Many people make the mistake of ignoring stressful situations, hoping they'll just go away, and instead they often worsen. If you deal with stressful situations as they arise, however, you can usually prevent them from mushrooming into long term issues. Most of the time, we do whatever we can to keep stress out of our lives. Some stress, though, is needed to stimulate us and prevent us from getting bored. This explains why people sometimes like things like fast cars, scary movies and high risk sports. What such activities have in common, though, is that people seek them out and define them as exciting. What's different about the bad kind of stress is that we never asked for it, and don't feel we have any control over it. You may be able to take a stressful issue and look at it differently, and see it as a new challenge that has something to teach you.
People respond to everything in life differently, even stress, and that is why they are so interesting. One person might be totally challenged by a situation, while another may be stressed out, and another might not be moved at all. Two people dealing with the same problem might both get stressed out, but one will carry it for days and the other one will get over it immediately. If you want to deal with stress better, then you need to learn how not to dwell on it. Stressful situations always happen, but it is the reactions of the people who determine the level of stress. While it's not possible to eliminate all stress from our lives, it is possible to change how we react to it. Stress can show up in many different ways in peoples' lives. We've looked at some of the consequences of stress, though it can show up in many different guises. Stress is not something to be ashamed of -you don't get rid of it by trying to cover it up. Just accept that you have it, and then seek out methods to manage it, even if you need some help with this.
